The Year 8 English course extends students’ skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking. They explore how texts convey meaning through structure, language, and perspective, and learn to create their own texts with clarity and purpose. The course also includes a focus on Shakespeare through modern adaptations.

Year 8 Mathematics Course
The Year 8 Mathematics course builds on foundational knowledge to strengthen students’ algebraic, geometric, and statistical skills. Students learn to solve complex problems using algebraic techniques, explore measurement and geometry, and are introduced to data analysis and basic programming concepts.
Term 1: Algebraic Techniques, Indices, Rates and Financial Maths

Holiday Courses
Matrix offers 4-day Holiday Skills-based Courses for Year 7 students in English and Maths. Each course runs for 2 hours per day and focuses on developing essential skills that reinforce term learning and prepare students for the term ahead.
