The Year 9 English course develops students’ skills in literary analysis across a range of text types. Students explore novels, poetry, film, and Shakespearean drama, learning to analyse language, structure, and techniques while building their own analytical and creative writing skills.

Term 2: Poetry – Shakespearean poetry, Emily Dickinson, modern poetry, and Australian poetry
Term 3: Understanding Film– Complex film techniques, the role of the director, and how to analyse film
Term 4: Understanding Shakespeare (Tragedy) – Strategies for reading Shakespeare, approaching Macbeth, writing analytically and imaginatively
Year 9 Mathematics Course
The Year 9 Mathematics course deepens students’ understanding of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. They develop skills in solving equations, working with surds and indices, exploring geometric properties, and analysing linear and quadratic relationships, as well as probability.
