Year 12 is the final and most critical year of high school, culminating in the Higher School Certificate (HSC). Success in this year can significantly influence university admissions and future career opportunities.

Matrix Education offers structured courses in English, Mathematics, and Science to support students through this pivotal year. Our programs are designed to build confidence, deepen understanding, and equip students with the skills necessary to excel in their HSC examinations.

Course Structure

  • Duration: 9 weeks per term

  • Lesson Length: 3 hours per week

  • Delivery Modes:

Year 12 English (Standard & Advanced)

Matrix offers both English Standard and English Advanced courses to support students at different levels of study. Whether your child is working on writing fundamentals or refining high-level analytical skills, our programs are designed to guide them through every module with clarity and confidence.

Students will explore a range of prescribed texts and learn how to write effectively under exam conditions—skills that are crucial for strong HSC results.

Term Breakdown

  • Term 1: Common Module: Texts and Human Experiences

    • Designed for Standard and Advanced English students.

  • Term 2: Module A: Textual Conversations or Module C: The Craft of Writing

  • Term 3: Module B: Close Study of Literature or Module C: The Craft of Writing

  • Term 4: HSC Exam Preparation Course

Year 12 Mathematics Courses

Matrix offers four Mathematics courses to cater to different student needs:

Mathematics Standard

  • Term 1: Algebra, Linear and Non-Linear Relations, Trigonometric Functions, Rates and Ratios

  • Term 2: Investments and Loans, Annuities, Network Concepts, Bivariate Data Analysis, The Normal Distribution

  • Term 3: Working with Time, Probability, Critical Path Analysis, Mock Trial Exam

  • Term 4: Revisions and Common Module Questions

Mathematics Advanced

  • Term 1: Geometrical Applications of Differentiation, Integration

  • Term 2: Sequences & Series, Exponential Functions, Logarithmic Functions

  • Term 3: Trigonometric Functions, Probability, Revision of Preliminary Topics, Review of HSC Exam Style Questions

  • Term 4: Rates of Change, Exponential Growth & Decay, Coordinate Methods in Geometry, Applications of Geometry, Motion in a Straight Line

Mathematics Extension 1

  • Term 1: Differentiation & Integration, Exponential & Logarithmic Functions, Mathematical Induction, Trigonometry

  • Term 2: Further Trigonometric Functions, Integration, Inverse Functions, Inverse Trigonometric Functions

  • Term 3: Rates of Change, Motion in a Straight Line, Simple Harmonic Motion, Projectile Motion

  • Term 4: Binomial Theorem, Probability, Iterative Methods, Circle Geometry

Mathematics Extension 2

  • Term 1: Complex Numbers, Polynomials

  • Term 2: Curve Sketching, Conics

  • Term 3: Methods of Integration, Volumes

  • Term 4: Mechanics, Harder Inequalities, Mathematical Induction, Probability, Circle Geometry

Year 12 Science Courses

Biology

  • Module 5: Heredity

  • Module 6: Genetic Change

  • Module 7: Infectious Disease

  • Module 8: Non-infectious Disease and Disorders

Chemistry

  • Module 5: Equilibrium and Acid Reactions

  • Module 6: Acid/Base Reactions

  • Module 7: Organic Chemistry

Physics

  • Module 5: Advanced Mechanics

Holiday Courses

Matrix offers Holiday Accelerated Courses (HAC) for Year 12 students in English, Mathematics, and Science. These intensive 9-lesson programs are delivered during the school holidays and cover a full term’s content.

HAC is perfect for students who want to make the most of their break by learning the next term’s material early and getting ahead of their peers. This allows students to stay on top of schoolwork, reduce stress, and feel more confident in class.
